Zagreb, Croatia, 2015, April 23
For the first time in Croatia, Lemax (Lemax software) organized a Girls in ICT Day under the name “ICT Supergirls 2015” on the 23rd of April. Students from local schools participated in this unique experience.
The goal was to motivate and encourage the younger female population in Croatia to consider ICT fields when applying for college education as well as trying to see their future line of work in technology – contrary to just those occupations that are traditionally considered “female” (as girls are often encouraged to do).
Our guests had a chance to see all departments and employees, experience the work atmosphere and ask questions thus getting a feel of the company’s working culture.
Our colleagues from different departments held short presentations about their experiences in this industry and all the benefits it provides. After the presentations, our guests had a chance to introduce themselves and to talk to the women of Lemax, which in turn encouraged them and answered all their questions regarding the choice of faculty, managing activities and work, balancing private and business life, etc. The Lemax team has shown how technology is everywhere and how it can be used as a potential.
After a short break, the students had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers that are among the leading Croatian woman entrepreneurs and role models from the local ICT sector – Antonija Horak (TuoTod), Lea Gagulić, Jelena Mijailović, Elizabeta Novaković (Acro), Lora Pleško (Mašinerija), and Biljana Cerin (Ostendo consulting). They showed their journey from scratch to success and motivated students to be brave and have the courage to make a seemingly unexpected choice.
The rest of the event was reserved for a snack, coffee and networking, as well as an interactive quiz and award winning contest where the students were able to test their knowledge in IT.
Between events, the students had time to relax with activities such as ping-pong, table football etc.
